    Philip Moore Callow Kermode (21 March in Ramsey, Isle of Man – ), was a Manx antiquarian and historian. In he became the first director of the newly established Manx was the son of Rev. William Kermode (–) and his second wife Jane née Bishop (–) and brother of Josephine Kermode, a Manx poet who wrote under the nom de plume "Cushag". Illustrated notes on Manks antiquities. THE Isle of Man is interesting from various points of view, and many of the more or less scientific summer visitors to its shores must often have found intellectual delights in its marine biology and its botany, in its rocks and fossils and in tracing the survival of ancient customs and the still earlier remains of prehistoric Man.

With respect to the former, which stands on St. Patrick's Isle, about 7½ acres in extent, we have already referred to the mound near the centre of the islet as having possibly been a stronghold since neolithic times.
